Eaton Camp Historical Society (ECHS)
Who we are
We are a not-for-profit voluntary organisation and registered charity founded in August 2010. Our members share an interest in studying, preserving and promoting the history of Eaton Bishop Parish in Herefordshire, England.
The Society takes its name from Eaton Camp, an Iron Age hill fort in Ruckhall, which has been the focus of an ECHS community archaeology project. We are members of the British Association for Local History.
Membership is open to local residents and all other interested persons.
What we do
Our purpose is to enrich our community through activities that enhance knowledge and appreciation of local history, and help to preserve it for future generations.
Projects include …
- – a Community Archaeology project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund
- – an annual programme of speakers
- – activities that link us to other groups with similar interests in Herefordshire and the West Midlands.
